Ethos, Values and History
“Inspire; empower; achieve”, underpins our mission statement; a declaration, written by students, parents and governors, which establishes the importance of these guiding principles in our community.
The aim of Thurston Community College is to provide an excellent education in a healthy, safe and supportive learning environment, where people are valued and make positive contributions to the College community, and where students enjoy and achieve and go on to attain social and economic wellbeing as responsible, independent members of society.
The staff and governors of Thurston Community College are totally dedicated to providing an outstanding education for each and every student. We believe in education in its broadest sense and are passionate about enabling our young people to achieve the best possible outcomes in every respect in a safe and enjoyable environment, where no-one gets left behind.
We are tremendously proud to have been recognised by Ofsted as a good school where students achieve good results and are well prepared for the next step in their careers. It is credit to the hard work and dedication of all members of the College community that we received this affirmation of our continued success.
Our ambition is that every student will be inspired by learning, empowered to seize life’s opportunities and will leave Thurston Community College as a happy, confident and well-rounded young person, having achieved their full potential.
