Tuesday Club

As a continuation of the Transition Programme, we now have an opportunity for Year 6 children to visit us for an after school taster session as part of our ‘Tuesday Club’. We are offering a choice of four dates, where you can choose between, Science, PE or Art. The dates are; Tuesday 15, 22, 29 March or 5 April 2022. Each session will run from 3:45-4:45pm.

What will you do?

Science

Have you ever been to a firework display and wondered how they are made? The Science Department would like to offer you an opportunity to explore the science of fireworks and get ‘hands on’ in the Science lab.

Take part in a variety of team building games as well as some fitness activities. A great opportunity to meet new people and have fun with a competitive edge. (You will need to be wearing trainers for this activity).

Art

Do you like to pull a funny face? Come to the art department and learn about portrait drawing, using a range of 2D and 3D ways of working. No materials needed; just bring your enthusiasm.

Sessions are designed to be fun and engaging, whilst giving a flavour of what lessons might be like here at Thurston. Students will meet other Year 6 pupils, as well as teaching staff, and have access to the facilities on offer at the College.

You can book one taster session per child by selecting the google form (link available below and on the Thurston Community College website) that corresponds to the session that you would like to attend; Science, PE or Art. Places will be allocated based on numbers, so please add your preference for dates and we will do our best to accommodate your request. Please complete the form by Thursday 3 March 2022.

You will receive an email to confirm your place and provide all necessary details, prior to the 15 March 2022.

Please only complete ONE booking form per child as spaces are limited.

Deadline for completion of your booking form is Thursday 3 March 2022.

You will receive and email prior to 15 March 2022 to confirm the date of your session, if successful.
